Things to see and do
The biggest attraction in the local area is the reservoir itself where you can go wake-boarding, sailing, water-skiing and paddle-boarding, or simply explore the walking trails and cycling routes in the Country Park with the family. There are also exhibitions at the Chasewater Innovation Centre, along with children’s treasure trails, a play area and crazy golf. Chasewater Railway operates on weekends and bank holidays, and there are a number of nice cafes in the area too.
If you love going out walking, cycling or simply exploring the great outdoors, there are lots of places to discover nearby including Cannock Chase Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty and Walsall Arboretum. Horse riding enthusiasts can go to Cannock Chase Trekking Centre, while history buffs will love discovering the National Trust Shugborough Estate. If you enjoy uncovering history, the German Military Cemetery in Cannock is a must-visit.
Lichfield is just a short drive away from Chasewater Reservoir, where you can see Lichfield Cathedral, visit the Samuel Johnson Birthplace Museum, step back in time at the Erasmus Darwin House, or see a show at the Garrick Theatre.
Beau Desert Golf Club and Cannock Park Golf Club are also close by, ideal if you enjoy a leisurely round of golf to relax on an evening or weekend.

Getting to Chasewater Reservoir and Country Park
Chasewater Reservoir is 15 minutes away from Lichfield by car, 25 minutes from Walsall, 30 minutes from Wolverhampton and just 30 minutes from Birmingham. The journey to Stafford takes around 30 minutes, while both Tamworth and Sutton Coldfield are just 20 minutes away.
If you’re going abroad, Birmingham Airport is only 25 minutes away travelling by car via the M6 Toll. For journeys to London, the car journey takes two hours 25 minutes while the train from Birmingham New Street to London Euston takes one hour 20 minutes.
