Milton Keynes is a modern town with lots to see and do in the local area, from open-air concerts at The National Bowl to West End shows at Milton Keynes Theatre. For families moving to Milton Keynes, the town is just a short drive away from Woburn Safari Park, Gulliver’s Land and Willen Lake and Park. If you want to explore the great outdoors, Rushmere Country Park, Ouzel Valley Park and Emberton Country Park are well worth a visit.

Milton Keynes is also close to Bletchley Park, where secret German codes were broken during World War II. Today, it’s home to The National Museum of Computing.

If you enjoy watching sports, MK Dons play their home football matches at Stadium MK while MK Lightning ice hockey team play at Planet Ice. The town is also home to the indoor ski and snowboarding slope SNO!zone, and The National Badminton Centre.

Education

If you’re moving to Milton Keynes with a young growing family, there are plenty of excellent schools to choose from. Priory Common School, Loughton Manor First School, Stanton School and Denbigh School are all rated ‘outstanding’ by Ofsted, while private schools include Milton Keynes Preparatory School and Webber Independent School.

For older children, further education is on offer at Milton Keynes College while the University of Bedfordshire and the Open University are also based in the town. Cranfield University, the University of Buckingham and the University of Northampton are all nearby.

Getting to Milton Keynes

If excellent transport links are a must for your new home, Milton Keynes could be the right choice for you. The train station is well connected to London, Manchester and beyond, while the M1 and other major roads are nearby.

To get to London from Milton Keynes, the train journey takes just 35 minutes to reach Euston. The journey to Milton Keynes from Northampton takes just 15 minutes by train or 30 minutes by car, while the journey from Birmingham takes one hour by train or one hour 20 minutes by car. Manchester is only one hour 40 minutes away by rail.

If you’re going on holiday, London Luton Airport is only a 35 minute drive away from Milton Keynes.
