Things to see and do
Brockworth is best-known for the annual cheese-rolling contest at Cooper’s Hill, while Great Witcombe Roman Villa is also a major attraction. If you’re moving to the area with children, they’ll love meeting the animals at Prinknash Bird and Deer Park, while other family-friendly attractions within driving distance include the Jet Age Museum, Gloucester Waterways Museum and Pittville Park in Cheltenham.
For adventures in the great outdoors, you can go for a stroll through Crickley Hill Country Park, explore the Cotswolds or walk among the flowers at Painswick Rococo Garden. Sporting attractions close by include Kingsholm Stadium, home to Gloucester Rugby, as well as Gloucester Ski and Snowboard Centre, the Warehouse Climbing Centre and Cotswold Hills Golf Club.
Cheltenham is only a short drive from Brockworth, where the racecourse hosts regular horse racing meets and events, culminating in the annual Festival and Gold Cup.

If you have school-age children or are thinking of starting a family, it’s good to know that there are a number of excellent schools in the local area. For degree-level studies, the University of Gloucestershire and Gloucestershire College are close to Brockworth, while the University of Bristol is also within commuting distance.
Getting to Brockworth
Brockworth is close to the M5 and only a short 15-minute drive or 30-minute bus journey from Gloucester train station. Travelling by car, Brockworth can be reached in 15 minutes from Cheltenham, 20 minutes from Stroud and Cirencester and 45 minutes from Bristol, while the journey from Birmingham takes around one hour.
If you’re travelling to London, the train from Gloucester to Paddington takes less than two hours. When it’s holiday time, you have the choice of flying from either Bristol or Birmingham Airport, both around one hour’s drive from the village.
