Given that Buckinghamshire has several National Trust properties, meaning you’ll never be short of a day out.
Waddesdon Manor is a lovely renaissance-style chateau with 45 rooms and art gallery to browse, while Greys Court is set within the hills of the Chilterns. Claydon has lovely interiors produced in the eighteenth century, while West Wycombe Park frequently appears in period dramas, such as Downton Abbey.
Over a third of the county is covered by the Chilterns Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, meaning buying a new home in Buckinghamshire provides plenty of outdoor areas to explore.
With over 2,500 miles of public footpaths, there’s plenty of choice. You may like to explore national trails such as the Thames Path or the Ridgeway, part of the oldest road in Britain.
You may also spot Red Kites, whereas a visit to Bacombe Hill, lets you see orchids and butterflies. You can also take walks along the River Thames, or take to the water by hiring a rowing boat.
Fans of children’s author Roald Dahl can pay homage to the author at the Roald Dahl Children’s Gallery and on the Roald Dahl Trail. Aimed at 6 – 12 year olds, there are three interactive galleries here, which also feature his original writing hut.
There are several schools in Buckinghamshire providing families plenty of choice. For those looking to go on to further education in the county, you’ll find Buckinghamshire New University, along with a campus of the University of Bedfordshire.
Buckinghamshire has great transport links and can be easily reached from around the UK.
Buckinghamshire is close to a number of key motorways. The M1, M40 and M25 all pass through, or are within easy reach, and provide links to the M3 and M4 motorways.
Chiltern Railways run two services from London Marylebone, one going to Aylesbury and one to Birmingham. Both serve several stations in Buckinghamshire.
First Great Western Link runs a service from London Paddington to Marlow, while London Midland offers journeys to Cheddington or Milton Keynes.
The London Underground also operates to Buckinghamshire, with the Metropolitan Line running from central London to Chalfont and Latimer, Amersham and Chesham.
There are three airports within easy reach of Buckinghamshire: Heathrow, Stansted and Luton can all be reached within an hour.
