The nightlife of Newcastle

Newcastle is a dynamic and exciting city with a great reputation for its pulsating nightlife. Whether you live in the heart of town, south of the city in Washington or over on the coast in South Shields or Tynemouth, Newcastle is known across the country as one of the best places for a night out on the tiles. Here we take a closer look at some of the best Newcastle nightlife hotspots, catering for a wide selection of tastes.

Tup Tup Palace

A true icon of the Newcastle clubbing scene, Tup Tup Palace oozes style and opulence. Think indoor waterfalls, plush seating areas and VIP table service before you let loose to your favourite tunes on the dance floor. Frequented by the likes of Snoop Dogg and the Geordie Shore cast, head to Tup Tup for one of the biggest Geordie nights out.

Digital

Another behemoth on the local clubbing scene, Digital puts on a variety of nights through the week to cater for different tastes. Known for attracting top DJs and acts such as Deadmau5, MK and Rudimental, this venue has a spectacular sound system and is a must if you’re into late-night partying.

Powerhouse

The biggest (and some would say best gay club in Newcastle), Powerhouse is also the city’s original haunt for the LGBT community. Spread out over four floors and boasting a reputation as one of the most fun nights out you can have in the city, this Geordie giant began life in the ‘80s and has never looked back.

The Cluny

If your search for the best Geordie nightlife revolves around live music venues, the Cluny is an absolute must. With a capacity of just 300, this intimate venue is ideal for checking out emerging bands. Household names such as the Arctic Monkeys, the Wombats, the Vaccines and Mumford & Sons have all performed in the past, while the craft beer and burgers only enhance the Cluny’s popularity.

Boulevard Show Bar

Your quest for the most colourful nightlife in Newcastle can end at the Boulevard Show Bar. Billed as a night out like no other, this pulsating venue is one of Newcastle’s most popular cabaret bars. From the dazzling costumes to the fabulous choreography and delicious cocktails, you can be sure of a roaring night out and plenty of laughs.

The Stand Comedy Club, Bar & Kitchen

If you’re on the lookout for even more laughs, why not try this excellent comedy club. Whether you’re catching up with local favourites, supporting up-and-coming comedians or browsing the listings for a big-name touring performer, there are few things better for lifting the spirits than a trip to the Stand.

Whether you live in the heart of town or a couple of miles out in the Wallsend area, we have a great selection of new build homes for sale in the Tyne and Wear and beyond. Our Bedewell Court development offers wonderful access to the city centre, while our Church Fields site over in the Whitley Bay area is perfect for seaside living.
