Barratt Developments Aids Essential Repairs to 30-Year-Old Forest of Dean Gymnastics Club

Local housebuilder, Barratt Developments, has today donated £1,500 from its Community Fund to the Forest of Dean Gymnastics Club — contributing to urgent and essential repairs to the training centre roof.

The purpose-built facility has been home to the Gymnastics Club, which has coached local children for almost 30 years — allowing them to develop confidence, strength, flexibility, and new skills in a safe and supportive environment.

But earlier this year, the roof began to leak — threatening damage to thousands of pounds’ worth of equipment as the leak worsens and winter fast approaches.

Lynn Hammersley MBE, Forest of Dean Gymnastics and Fitness Centre Director, said: “Having built the centre from the ground up, I have witnessed its transformation into a place that produces champions and inspires the next generation — all while providing a community hub that brings families from the Forest of Dean together.

“We are incredibly grateful to Barratt for their generous contribution towards the repair of the roof — and hope that others will be inspired to further support this essential work so that we can continue coaching our gymnasts in the Forest of Dean for years to come.”

The Community Fund is a Barratt Developments initiative to give back to the communities it builds in — offering donations to charities and organisations working to improve the quality of life for those living in their area.

Charity champion for Barratt Developments, Lewis Allwood, added: “The passion of Lynn and her incredible team of coaches’ is truly inspiring — so we are thrilled to have been able to support their efforts to fix the roof and keep the Club open.

“Applications for the Community Fund are open to all registered charities operating in south Wales and the west. To be considered, simply send us an email explaining what the funding would be spent on, and how it would benefit the local community.”
