Where to Live in Hampshire
Looking for your perfect home in Hampshire? Located on the south-east coast, Hampshire is a fantastic place to live and work. Made up of vibrant cities, charming coastal towns and quaint countryside villages, there’s something for everyone here. And with transport links up and down the country, it offers excellent connections with the rest of the UK, too.

Boasting the perfect blend of urban and rural, it’s easy to see why so many people are choosing to call this county home. Read on as we take you through five of the best places to live in Hampshire.

Winchester

From its historical links to its delightful scenery, lots of factors make Winchester a great place to live. Despite properties being less affordable than in neighbouring areas, this cathedral city offers a desirable range of local amenities. It is an excellent choice for many due to its close proximity to London, only an hour away by train.

Winchester also has great schooling options – a major plus for families with young children. The city is full of beautiful Georgian and Victorian houses that make wonderful family homes. And because of its compact size, travelling to the city centre doesn’t take long.

Stockbridge

Set amidst a backdrop of rolling countryside, Stockbridge is one of Hampshire’s hidden gems. It was recently voted as one of the best places to live in the UK by the Sunday Times, owing to its pleasant atmosphere and breathtaking surroundings.

With a population of just under 600, Stockbridge is a small town with much to offer. Featuring a pretty Georgian high street, two pubs, a surgery, and a good school, it’s got everything you’d want from a quiet countryside village.

Milford-on-Sea

Milford-on-Sea is a lovely village located on the Hampshire coast. It has everything you’d expect from a traditional village, including independent shops, pubs, restaurants and cafés. It also boasts an extensive beach with stunning views of The Isle of Wight, and it’s where swimmers and walkers come to relax.

The village has a strong community spirit. There’s always something going on here, from the annual festival on the village green to the workshops that take place at the community centre. If you’re looking for a lively coastal village with brilliant scenery, Milford-on-Sea could be a great option.

Portsmouth

Finding affordable housing in a coastal city can be tricky, but Portsmouth makes it possible. While it may be a popular UK holiday destination, it’s also a brilliant place to live. There’s never a dull moment here with idyllic beaches, high-quality restaurants and fabulous shopping locations all on offer.

This buzzing city is only 70 miles from London and is well-served by road, rail and sea transport links. It benefits from a great selection of public and private schools, as well as museums, galleries and historic sites. If you’re looking for a bustling place by the sea with lots to do, browse our modern collection of 2, 3 and 4 bedroom homes on Harbour Place and Saxon Corner developments.

Fareham

One of the best towns in Hampshire, Fareham is a characterful place with a good combination of modern attractions and rich history. It’s located between Southampton and Portsmouth and offers spectacular views and access to nearby beaches.

Fareham is a classic market town that hosts regular farmers’ and gardeners’ markets. It has a train station, a variety of shops and restaurants, and an outstanding range of schools. In terms of facilities and amenities, it pretty much ticks all the boxes. If you’d like to move to this thriving town, don’t miss our upcoming Pebble Walk development on Hayling Island, just a short drive from Fareham.
